Broomsedge is an easy-to-grow upright warm-season native  grass with incredible golden copper winter color.  The slender erect foliage is medium green until the flower spikelets with silky white hairs go up in late summer and slowly transition colors.  Prefers full sun and dry sandy soils.  Tolerates both drought and wet soils.

The Andropogon genus is a host plant for the Common Wood-Nymph butterfly and various skipper butterflies.
